APHSA strives to create an experience for Summit attendees that fosters knowledge-building on emerging national policy issues affecting state, county, and city agencies delivering human services in our communities. At the Summit, we seek to highlight and showcase innovative practices and models from state and local jurisdictions, with a special focus on individuals with lived experience and leveraging community and human-centered design strategies and successes; process innovations and agile technology solutions; and strategies that center equity, inclusivity, and belonging in all the work of the human services sector.
Current Topics & Priorities
APHSA is seeking proposals and presentations relevant to current topics and priorities across the broad sector of human services, including but not limited to:

Upstream prevention initiatives in the child welfare system.

Innovative partnerships involving individuals with lived expertise, and highlighting co-designed initiatives centered in, and with community.

Justice-seeking initiatives focused on fostering belonging, racial equity, environmental and language justice.

Workforce strategies addressing recruitment and retention, training, belonging, and well-being.

Leadership and organizational change management strategies and solutions.

Technology modernization efforts including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning projects.

Efforts to coordinate and integrate the delivery of human services benefits in TANF, SNAP, child care, child support, etc.

Promising cross-sector partnerships focused on alignment in Medicaid, housing, public health, education.

Strategies to enhance productive narratives and capture the positive impact of the human services sector.
